You know that the end of the millenium is less than six months away. Never mind that apocalyptic rhetoric or the ominous Y2K Bug. You want to party like it's 1999 baby! What to do? Where to go? You probably should have started planning LAST year, because hotels everywhere are nearly booked and it's rumored that there will be a champagne shortage. There may still be some hope for you though, my little last minute planner. By the end of this article you will have everything you need to ring in the New Millenium like a pro.
You want to make sure you don't miss the parties completely. The first thing you need is a Millenium 2000 Countdown Clock. This clock will countdown the time till the millenium for you. Remember that $24.95 is a small price to pay to be on time to party down.
You need a couple of all around year 2000 celebration resources. Start with New Year's Eve 1999. Here you can browse New Year's celebrations by location, cost, and type, and NewYear news. This is a developing site, but should be some help.
Another good all around resource is ALLBOUT2000.COM. Here, read all about the year 2000 vs. year 2001 debate- when does the new millenium begin? You can browse celebrations by events like the Jubillenium or the Millennium Party. Browse by country by clicking on the interactive world map. There are even millenium events planned in Antarctica!
Now that you've decided what you're going to do, you need to decide how you are going to get there. Many travel-oriented sites are offering special packages to New Year celebrants. Check out Vagabond Travel's special cruise packages, many of which are already sold out.
Now you better do some research. New Years Eve 1999 has a list of books, magazines and articles that will help you become well versed in New Year's history, lore, and lingo.
Now we have to plan your outfit. Every cool partier on New Year's Eve should be seen out and about wearing the latest and hippest millenium fashions. Warner Originals 2000 offers a fine line of New Year party wear, including hats, t-shirts and polo shirts. You can choose either the popular "Walking into a new millennium" or the "Coming of a new millennium" logo designs.
What New Year celebration is complete without a few bottles of fine champagne? You've gotta have champagne on New Year's! Well, Moet and Chandon are there to supply your champagne needs. They even have a special "Prepare 2000" section.
You know you're going to get hungry doing all that partying and walking around. There will probably be long lines for food. You'd better have your own stash on hand. Cookies are small, easy to transport and fun to eat. Kitchen Collectibles offers a wide variety of New Years 2000 cookie cutters for your cookie creation pleasure.
Next, you'll need a song to sing. Of course, the most popular and well known New Year's song is the traditional Scottish ditty Auld Lang Syne ("Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind?"). There are a couple of other New Year songs to choose from as well.
Finally, you're going to need a hangover remedy for the next morning. The suggestions here include recipes for Hangover Soup, suggestions to just keep drinking, and so on.
Well, you should now be ready for your New Year's celebration! What questions could you possibly have?
